[rant] So Girlpants and I have started to watch a few different series on the box, just to make a difference around the CSI, CSI Miami, CSI NY, Forensic Files and New Yankee Workshop that we have spilling out of our heads and onto the floor.

So we had a look and stared to watch

• Medical Investigation - cancelled after 1st season
• Threshold - cancelled after 1st season
• Killer Instinct - cancelled after 1st season
• Bones - still going....thank God!
• House - ditto
• Kitchen Confidential - cancelled after 1st season
• Green Wing - cancelled after 2nd season

Why, why, why? What is wrong with these people in the big seats!!? Have we started so now we can't finish? Can they not see that when something is critically acclaimed and has a cult following, then it's a good thing. Maybe even something to resurrect, like:

• Futurama - cancelled but rumoured to be returning 2008
• Family Guy - cancelled, then reinstated 
• Doctor Who - cancelled after the Americans tried to work it, now back!

It really drives me mad that you start to get onto a good thing and then it dies an early premature death. Fox cancelled Family Guy AND Futurama but kept The Simpson thing limping into the everleasting and deary sunset. Where's the next season of Black Books? The long promised Red Dwarf the movie? Or Futurama the movie?? And did you really have to quit on Green Wing? The least they could do is let people know when they cancel series instead of them sliding by the wayside and hoping no-one will notice.

Gah! It's enough to make your teeth ache.

Patricia Hewitt - He did nothing wrong

BBC Breakfast News - He met with a man who had clear intents of profiting from a Government contact.

Patricia Hewitt - Job Prescott said at the weekend, and reiterated many times, that he was working within guidelines, doing nothing wrong. As indeed we all do.

Not a precise transcript but what I can remember and you get the gist. All I can say was that I was chortling into my toast whilst next to me, all I could hear was Girlpants...

"PAH!"

England are out, the car flags are at half mast, the carnage of Izzy's 5th birthday is over and I am on my third rocket lolly...

It's currently 27.7°C in the H-D household today. The cats are being dirty stop outs and I am on my third, thats right people! third job application of the day! Get me! Well - it's either that or rehoovering the floors. Again.

Girlpants has a conference next week and after that, he's taking me on holiday. To Belgium. Admittedly, when he said he would take me away as a reward for working so hard on my course, I kinda had this

in mind.

Ho hum! Needless to say, Girlpants is on a jolly and I am accompanying. I am looking forward to it though! Eurostar over, then firstly to Leuvan, where no doubt we will stagger around our tour of the local brewery, then onto Antwerp and the final destination of Brussels, where we will be staying in a beautiful art deco hotel.

Grouchy, arsey and no too happy - we were woken up at 5am by this

Mister Girlpants is tired. As tired as a hard working man can be. Not only has the academic year just finished with all the meetings, training and exam boards, but there's a conference in less than a weeks time and a whole load of programming to do for outside projects.... We were working on a friends kiddy flat pack furniture which meant that the bottle of white and strawberries I had planned were left in the fridge as we were both too tired to do anything but sleep - not even make a cup of tea! Then this morning, he refused to leave the bed until midday today. Sleepy boy = grumpy Girlpants.

Especially in this heat!

So when he saw the news tonight, he turned to me and said lovingly...

"Ere! Maid! 'dere be no flags on cars in Plymouth tonight..."

Droll Devonshire boy.

A little known gossip website has made it into the news

http://www.dontdatehimgirl.com/ has been reported and will be taken to court for defamation of a lawyer. Why? Because the website is a tongue in cheek infomercial about various men you shouldn't date from previous girlfriends/wives. The type of thing you usually find out in a small hairdressers or a coffee morning. But it's published reports about him.

Since it's hit the news, others have posted multiple reasons - too many for the website to keep up with... "date this guy and heard he was gay, i'm quite sure he is bi. I remember his father George asking him if he was...." and "he gave me herpes beware do not date him"

Maybe adding the photo, name and admitted that he is a local criminal district attorney was a bit silly. I say silly, I mean stupid. But you have to read some of these entries...some are jilted women, others are clearly warning of scum and others, are just repeating the rumours. Some are just sad, others have nothing at all but the majority are written in a funny funny way!

And I do believe I saw one of my ex-boyfriends in there...

Girlpants - If she was plastic, she could be a doll...
